LONDON, Oct 23 (Docklands Wire) – A Chinese company is set to roll out a three-dimensional map of Greenwich that will allow users to wander into the London borough’s shops and tourist attractions at the click of a mouse.
The NCity platform, developed by Crystal Digital Technology, would create a 3D model of attractions such as the O2, Greenwich Park, museums and businesses. Visitors would be able to peek inside the venues for information on events and on products on sale in shops once the website becomes available early next year.
“You can even learn what kind of shops are in the Greenwich market and what they sell,” Crystal Digital Technology’s London office manager Jason Leigh.
Leigh said Greenwich was the first European destination for the firm. Crystal Digital has designed 3D web models for Beijing and Shenzhen in China and is in discussions with officials in Singapore, India and Dubai.
NCity would be offered free to clients to showcase their business on the website, but Leigh said the company would start charging for the service in three to five years.
“If you are a hotel owner and you are allowing people to look at the rooms before they book, it would be very good for your business. Even if we charge a small fee I’m sure the hotel owners would be willing to pay for it,” Leigh said.
